7/8 Math

Kayla Andersen
7th Grade Math

Hello! My name is Kayla Andersen and I am a 7th Grade Math Teacher here at Arvada K8. I have taught at many different kinds of schools including an English School in Japan and an Outdoor School in Oregon. 2020 is my first year at Arvada K8, and I couldn't be more excited!

Outside of school, I am a passionate traveler. I have been to 42 of the lower 48 states, and have traveled to 11 foreign countries. I own a van and have converter the back to be a tiny house so that I can get in and go at a moment's notice. I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and rafting.

What I am most excited about Arvada K8 is the diversity that exists here. I am excited to work with all of our unique students!

Tammy Snell 7th and 8th Grade Math

Hi, I’m Tammy Snell and I am a 7th and 8th grade math teacher.  I was born and raised in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and I graduated from Jefferson High School.  Since high school, I have attended Red Rocks Community College, the University of Northern Colorado and Lesley University and have earned degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Educational Technology.  I started teaching at Wheat Ridge Middle School, which I attended as a middle school student.  During my 13 years there, I taught math, science, technology and student senate.  In 2011, I moved to Arvada K-8 and am beginning my tenth year as a math teacher here.

When not at work, I enjoy reading, sewing, spending time with family/friends and going to Colorado Avalanche hockey games.  I am the youngest of eight children and my parents raised four of my cousins.  So, I am the youngest of 12 kids that my parents raised!!!  Now, I have several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews too.  In fact, it was my niece, Frances, who got me hooked on hockey and I go to the games with her (and sometimes her daughter) when we can.

I love being at Arvada K-8.  It just feels like home.  Our students and families challenge us to do our best work everyday and our staff rises to that challenge.  I love supporting kids learning and seeing those moments when connections are made and understanding happens.

Renee Lindgren
8th Grade Math

Yá'át'ééh (Hello). Shí éí Renee Lindgren yinishyé. Táchii'nii nishłį́ (Red Running into the Water clan), Áshį́į́hí báshishchíín (born for the Salt clan), Haltsooí dashicheii (maternal grandfather’s clan is the Meadow People clan), Kinyaa'áanii dashináli (paternal grandfather’s clan is the Towering House clan). Kót'áó Diné nishłi (This identifies me as Navajo). I am from the small community of Rock Springs, NM. I attended both the University of New Mexico (Go Lobos! Woof, Woof, Woof!) and Colorado State University-Global Campus. I have taught secondary math (7th-12th grade) for a total of 6 years. My family and I have just moved to Colorado and we are excited to be here.

When I'm not teaching, I am with my family & friends hanging out, watching my kids play soccer/basketball/volleyball or at home watching sports or movies (Star Wars, Marvel, or international tv series). I do like to travel and enjoy hiking. I love music! I listen to primarily country, but I also listen to rap/hip-hop, pop, alternative, some rock, R&B, and the Navajo radio station KGAK (all Navajo all the time!).

I'm so excited to join the Arvada K8 team! It's so refreshing to enter a community that is for kids! I enjoy helping/guiding students through their math curriculum and it really is a journey. A journey that is filled with bumps at first, but as the year goes on, it does become smoother.
