Megan Spahn
5th Grade Teacher
Hi, my name is Megan Spahn and I am one of the 5th grade teachers here at Arvada K-8. I have been teaching for 8 years, all at Arvada K-8! I have taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and co-direct the after-school musicals. I grew up here in Jeffco and graduated from Green Mountain High School. I went to college at Colorado State University (go Rams!) and majored in Human Development and Family Studies and minored in Spanish. I then went on to the University of Denver to get my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I got married this summer (some of you probably remember me as Ms. Boehm) to my husband Tim. We have two cats, Mose and Higgins. We love watching the Nuggets, Broncos, and Avs. We also enjoy going to see DU Hockey and CU Basketball games and can't wait to be back as fans in person again.
I love working at Arvada K-8 because of the people. The students are motivated to do their best and the staff work so hard to help everyone. It is a great place to be and I am so lucky to get to work with so many friends!
Amy Hoskins
5th Grade Teacher
My name is Amy Hoskins, and I am one of the fifth grade teachers at Arvada K-8. I earned my degree in Elementary Education in 1994 from Iowa State University. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in Orlando, Florida, and also here in Jefferson County Public Schools. This is my 7th year at Arvada K-8.
I have been married to my husband Kevin for 26 years. Our two boys are in 11th and 7th grade. They keep us really busy with football, mountain biking, and skiing. We have a Miniature Schnauzer named Ellie. In my spare time, I love taking her for walks in Arvada and in the mountains. I also enjoy reading, quilting, camping, gardening, and cheering on the Denver Broncos.
I really love being a part of the Arvada K-8 family! I live in Arvada and enjoy seeing so many students out and about in our community. I am here for the kids and want to see every student become the best version of themselves and succeed. I believe in a strong partnership between parents, students, and teachers. I hope to empower students to take risks, keep a growth mindset, and to reach their fullest potential. The classroom is an exciting place to be everyday! I can’t wait to build relationships with our 5th graders!
